Des Moines Park to Feature Natural Play Area

A northeast Des Moines park soon will be converted into the first in the city that uses the local environment to create a natural playscape. Sargent Park, a 27-acre site near the intersection of East Douglas and Colfax avenues, will undergo a makeover that will be completed by the end of this year, park officials said. It will follow a model used by Polk County for planning at Jester Park. Marlene Anderson, supervisor for the Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department, said the planned renovations follow the park department's master plan, by which all 72 of Des Moines' parks eventually… Fair Use Notice
