Nature Club
Appalachian Mountain Club
Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is the nation's oldest outdoor recreation and conservation organization, with 12 chapters from Maine to Washington, D.C. The AMC promotes the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Northeast outdoors. Over 8,000 trips are offered by AMC each year--from local chapter activities to staff-led trips and programs at AMC lodges and huts--for every ability level and outdoor interest.
The AMC works with over 30,000 young people each year, teaching outdoor skills and building awareness of conservation issues through programs such as family camp at AMC lodges, volunteer teen trail crews, and A Mountain Classroom and Teen Wilderness Adventures programs. The AMC also serves young people in urban and rural areas through its Youth Opportunities Program by training leaders in youth agencies.
