Nature Club

Active Kids Club

We are parents who advocate active childhood in the great outdoors in all kinds of weather. We believe that we as parents have the power to ensure this for our children. We believe that all children have the right to be exposed to the great outdoors from an early age. The great outdoors can be everything, from more hardcore activities like skiing to just playing in your backyard or your local park. We hope that you can be as passionate about an active childhood as us; however an active childhood shows up for you.

Our website offers information about an active childhood out in nature.
-- Ideas about what kind of actives you can do outside.
-- Connecting active parents on our Facebook group
-- How to create an outdoor playgroup.
-- Information about our outdoor playgroup every Wednesday in Oriole Park, Toronto. No bad weather, only bad clothing.
-- How to best dress for outdoors in all kinds of weather.
-- Library with resources about all aspect of outdoor activities.

"If you go with long-term significance, my pick for the top story of not only 2009 but also of the 21st Century is the pandemic of Nature Deficit Disorder, a term so aptly coined by Richard Louv in his best-selling outdoor book, Last Child in the Woods...."
— Bill Schneider, NewWest.Net
“Concerns about long-term consequences—affecting emotional well-being, physical health, learning abilities, environmental consciousness—have spawned a national movement to ‘leave no child inside.’ In recent months, it has been the focus of Capitol Hill hearings, state legislative action, grassroots projects, a U.S. Forest Service initiative to get more children into the woods and a national effort to promote a ‘green hour’ in each day.”
— Washington Post, June 2007
“The movement to reconnect children to the natural world has arisen quickly, spontaneously, and across the usual social, political, and economic dividing lines.”
Orion magazine, March/April 2007
